Become an educated Democracy Pledger!
Definition (Part 1): A “Democracy Pledger” is someone who takes responsibility for Human Rights and Democratic Freedoms for everyone rather than taking them for granted; someone who bothers to learn where they come from so they can protect these rights and freedoms for future generations, rather than not even knowing where they come from and so not being vigilant to maintain their foundations, and thus being prone to ignorantly compromise Human Rights and undermine Democracy without even realizing it, which uneducated ignorance on a wide scale in both politicians and voters has brought on the current worldwide threat of “Creeping Totalitarianism” necessitating the educational Democracy 101 & The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy to combat this uneducated ignorance. A “Democracy Pledger” reads the Pledge (Democracy 101) to learn Democracy’s historical and logical foundations and then spreads it to others who spread it to others, until there are enough EDUCATED citizens in their country (who no longer take Human Rights and Freedoms for granted) to ensure they last long-term.
A “Democracy Pledger” “takes the Pledge” by reading it and spreading it to others as part of a worldwide grassroots movement to make sure Human Rights and Freedoms last forever on their firm traditional, historical, scientific and logical foundations –until enough citizens in their country understand and stand up together in Solidarity for the constitutional enshrinement of The Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy and The Core Principles of Lasting Democracy identified from history, science and logic in PLEDGE PART II and clearly articulated in PLEDGE PART I of Democracy 101 & the Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy.
Definition (Part 2): Democracy worldwide is today seriously threatened by an insidious “Creeping Totalitarianism” born of widespread uneducated ignorance of these principles among people who have taken their Human Rights and Democratic Freedoms for granted, without even knowing where they come from, for far too long. Thus, for the sake of long-lasting Human Rights and Freedoms a “Democracy Pledger” is one who understands, defends, and upholds the following Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy and the Core Principles of Lasting Democracy (presented here simply, without the further explanations given in PLEDGE PART I and without the scientific and historical and logical background given in PLEDGE PART II):
Foundational Principle of Human Rights and Democracy #1: That every human life without exception, without discrimination and “without distinction of any kind” is SUPREMELY and EQUALLY valuable and precious, OBLIGATING governments to protect and serve ALL precious humans who have “inherent . . . equal and inalienable [human] rights” (instead of being oppressive and/or totalitarian towards the governed).
Foundational Principle of Human Rights and Democracy #2: That because every human life without exception is precious every human life without exception must be FREE from all government coercion in matters of belief so that they may without impediment FREELY seek and find this wonderful Truth foundational to Democracy, that their human lives are supremely and equally valuable and precious (without government interference; without government telling or teaching the humans governed any differently; and without government treating humans any differently, in violation of their Human Rights). These two principles together are the implicit underlying First Principles or logical starting point of both Human Rights and Democracy as we know it.
CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #1: Lasting Democracy requires full and uncompromising legal recognition of The Inherent Human Right to Live and the traditional Western belief expressed in the simple maxim killing humans is wrong, because Human Rights are for All Humans or else they are meaningless.
CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #2: Lasting Democracy does not grant unqualified freedom to individual humans, but Lasting Democracy restricts individual freedom with just criminal laws which uphold the Inherent Human Right to Live and the maxim killing humans is wrong; laws which protect the Human Rights and property of other humans and encourage mature respect for all humanity which ensures that humans are always treated as precious persons not as mere tools or objects to be used or thrown away. For lasting world peace nation-States also need to be guided by just International Laws which similarly uphold the Inherent Human Right to Live, Human Rights for All Humans and the maxim killing humans is wrong.
CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #3: Lasting Democracy does not grant an unqualified “anything the majority asks for or accepts,” but Lasting Democracy MUST hold its citizens and its politicians constitutionally accountable to the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy including the Inherent Human Right to Live and the maxim killing humans is wrong because Human Rights are for All Humans, or else genuine Democracy can easily be lost to “Creeping Totalitarianism” wherein democracies (in name only, as in 1930s Germany) gradually but increasingly take on the characteristics of totalitarian States (all of which deny killing humans is wrong and all of which think the government decides which humans may or may not be legally killed instead of recognizing lasting democratic government’s foundation that governments are obligated to always protect and serve always-precious human lives because Human Rights are for All Humans).
These principles make clear that “Democracy Pledgers” can be distinguished from “Totalitarian Creeps” according to their understanding of the value of human life. The understanding of human life of “Democracy Pledgers” is ultimately oriented towards lasting Democracy, because they understand that governments are always OBLIGATED to protect and serve human lives which are always EQUAL and PRECIOUS – human equality being the foundation of Democracy. The understanding of human life of “Totalitarian Creeps” is ultimately (if unwittingly) oriented towards Totalitarianism, because they believe governments decide just which human lives are protected by laws and just which human lives can be legally killed, like in every Totalitarian State. Educated “Democracy Pledgers” (or potential “Democracy Pledgers” who without this education already implicitly believe in the traditional Western values explicitly articulated in the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy) can be easily distinguished from uneducated “Totalitarian Creeps” by their answer to these questions: Where do you stand on the current Human Rights for All Humans debate? Do you believe in equal Human Rights for All Humans, or do you believe Human Rights can and should be denied to some humans? That is, are you “Pro-Human-Right-to-Live” or “Pro-Choice-to-Kill-Humans” ?
You can become an educated “Democracy Pledger” and spread the Pledge using these (and the below) weblinks to an earlier draft of the Introduction; the Pledge; and the Manifesto which together make up Democracy 101; or by ordering an audiobook CD or audiobook download or by pre-ordering a print copy of the next draft of the complete Democracy 101 & The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy at email@example.com.

The future of Western Democracy is in the hands of either the educated “Democracy Pledgers” or the uneducated “totalitarian creeps” – make sure you have a solid Human Rights education and become a “Democracy Pledger” so Human Rights and Democratic Freedoms will last forever!
The real division between citizens worldwide is NOT “politically right or left” nor even “Pro-Life” versus “Pro-Choice,” but what soon will be known as “Democracy Pledgers” versus “Totalitarian Creeps” – that is, those ultimately oriented towards Democracy from its Human Rights foundations in traditional Western values, versus those ultimately (if unwittingly) oriented towards totalitarianism because they deny Democracy’s Human Rights for All Humans foundation and keep trying to find slick new justifications to get out of simply admitting killing humans is wrong (Period).
The distinction between “Democracy Pledgers” and “Totalitarian Creeps” is that between those HAVING versus those LACKING a solid Human Rights education in Democracy’s historical, scientific, and logical foundations such as that which Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! provides (or at least the distinction of HAVING or LACKING the traditional Western values which Democracy was historically and logically built on and NEEDS TO LAST). This can also be simply described as the “Human Rights for All Humans” division, which is exactly the same as the previous Human Rights for All Humans division over legal slavery: There are those who believe that Human Rights are for all humans (Black, Jewish, preborn “without distinction of any kind,” as it says in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights), and those who do NOT believe in Human Rights for All Humans. And any country that cannot agree on such a very basic and foundational matter as whether or not humans are precious (and should be consistently treated as such) cannot possibly be stable for the long term; such radical polar opposites about human life itself will tear any society apart. It was even pointed out at the time of America’s founding that legal slavery was inconsistent with “all men are created equal” and this fundamental inconsistency was inherently politically destabilizing and screamed for resolution until eventually resolved by the Civil War, the Americans having failed to resolve the fundamental incompatibility of legal slavery with democracy peacefully as they did in the British Empire. Since legal abortion is just as fundamentally incompatible with Democracy as legal slavery was, for exactly the same reason – it denies human rights to some humans – this issue will also be inherently destabilizing to democracies and will scream for resolution until a stable viewpoint on whether humans are equal or not is reached in each country.
That is to say, the real substantial difference dividing the citizens of many Western nations over life issues is NOT “Right” versus “Left” (all founding political parties of “Left” and “Right” at least implicitly acknowledged the traditional Western value of EQUAL HUMAN PRECIOUSNESS when our modern democracies were formed. If some parties of either “Left” or “Right” worldwide have strayed from their human-protecting democratic foundations and adopted human-killing totalitarian policies, they should get back to their party’s roots which recognized HUMAN EQUALITY). The difference is not even “Pro-Life” versus “Pro-Choice,” terms which have been misunderstood or used misleadingly (though the essential distinguishing characteristics of these two terms is more accurately described as “Pro-Human-Right-to-Live” versus “Pro-Choice-to-Kill-Humans”). But even most self-described “Pro-Choicers” are not truly nor ardently “Pro-Choice-to-Kill-Humans” – they are simply too uneducated in the history and logic underlying and undergirding all modern Human Rights and Democratic Freedoms to know that “Pro-Choice-to-Kill-Humans” is the distinguishing essence of the “Pro-Choice” side they associate themselves with, and they simply need to be educated and they will do the right thing for all humanity and become “Pro-Human-Right-to-Live” – to make sure that their children and grandchildren are raised in a free democracy like they were only because of many centuries of traditional Western “Pro-Human-Right-to-Live” thinking that means Human Rights are for All Humans.

The first quoted phrase is from Article 2 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the second quoted phrase is from the first sentence of the formal Preamble of the Universal Declaration which begins by declaring an essentially similar truth to Foundational Principle of Human Rights and Democracy #1 in the different words: “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.”
