I am currently working on Draft 2.7, but I have been meaning to report on major changes to The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy since Draft 2.5 which is currently viewable on the Home Page of the website.
The major change from earlier drafts is that Draft 2.5 and after are much longer mainly because I added multi-article sections dealing with the two major “wrong turns” on Western Civilization’s path prior to (and logically leading up to) the disastrous de-criminalization of abortion which eradicated the legally recognized Inherent Human Right to Live which is the historical and logical foundation of all human rights and democratic freedoms. Although it is this 3rd “wrong turn” of de-criminalized abortion that is most directly responsible for the current “Creeping Totalitarianism” undermining our Western democracies, this wrong turn was made possible by the previous two (the second shortly before and the first dating back 200 years). Thus, any truly comprehensive solution to the current “Creeping Totalitarianism” destroying religious freedom and democracy has to deal with these prior huge mistakes made by Western Civilization which gradually but logically began to unravel all the gains for human rights and freedoms made since.
The previous two “wrong turns” that led us to the current problems are dealt with in more depth in Chapter 7 and 8 of the current draft (2.4) of my treatise The Education Necessary to Preserve Democracy Now Under Attack, but these are not available (in any draft) on the website. So these additions to the Pledge, though they make it much longer, make the Pledge “conceptually complete,” giving readers a comprehensive understanding in exactly what brought us to the current “Creeping Totalitarianism” and exactly what we can most effectively do to reverse it (this last described in detail in the supplemental New Abolitionist Manifesto of Solidarity which includes “The Winning Long-Term Strategy for ‘The Culture of Life’ to Win the ‘Cultural War’ with ‘The Culture of Death,’ to Save Humanity Forever from ‘Creeping Totalitarianism.’ This is meant to be read after reading the Pledge, so that it gives both the “bad news” and the “good news” about what is happening to the West – how we got to all the current threats to democracy, religious freedom, and human rights; just how bad the threat is right now (much more serious than those without a good historical perspective realize); but also just what we can DO about it, utilizing a PROVEN STRATEGY.
The downside of the new “conceptually complete” drafts of the Pledge (and supplementary Manifesto) is that being longer, they take a longer time commitment to read thoroughly. I will have to eventually make an edited and “abridged” version of the Pledge and Manifesto to highlight the main points more briefly – something that can be printed on large posters. In the meantime, the content of the longer Pledge and Manifesto is excellent; and it provides a still-comprehensive education in what matters most to preserve democracy, at only about 1/5 the length of the full-size book-length treatise The Education Necessary to Preserve Democracy Now Under Attack on which the Pledge is based.
In the meantime, I suggest readers break down the reading by reflectively reading an article or two each day (of 28 Articles in the Pledge and 26 Articles in the current draft of the Manifesto). Also, the “Lasting Democracy Study Nights” are meant for people to gather and study and discuss the works that give “the education necessary to preserve democracy now under attack” – by doing so helping to implement the “winning strategy” of educating the electorate until there are enough citizens educated in where human rights and democracy come from, to make sure they last.
